Your brain takes information from your body and then it sends out messages telling your body what to do, like walk or talk. Soooooooo.
Don’t let drugs trick your brain!

Did you know that drugs can make your brain send false messages such as, “I have energy” or “I’m relaxed”- even when you don’t or you aren’t?

Any drug use can hurt you and lead to MORE drug use. That can then lead to addiction, when drugs control you. Control your own life---don’t use drugs!

Drugs don’t make people cool. And most people don’t do drugs, either. Don’t be fooled by all the big talk. In fact, studies tell us that about three out of four 8th Graders did NOT use any drugs in the past year.Even in high school, most students look down on regular users of marijuana.

Nicotine and alcohol ARE drugs, and they are just as serious as other drugs. In about 40% of all traffic deaths alcohol plays a role. Car crashes are the leading killer of people ages 1-24. And smoking kills at least 400,000 people in the United States every year. So don’t be fooled when someone tells you that alcohol and nicotine are not drugs,
because they are!

Some people may get addicted more easily than others. And that can run in families. So if you have someone with a drug problem in your family, including alcoholism, then you have an extra reason to stay away from drugs.

There is a connection between drugs and crime.
Most people in prison were using alcohol or other drugs when they committed their crimes.

What exactly would you say to someone who really thinks that drinking alcohol, smoking, or taking drugs is cool? Below are some things you can say to someone who asks you to do these things:
Say: "No, thanks. Gotta go!” and just leave, especially if he or she keeps asking you and pressuring you.
Say: “Can’t. I have to study for a big test.” Make some excuse why you can’t smoke, drink alcohol or take drugs. Then leave, don’t stick around.
Say: “No. I don’t do that stuff.” Just be honest and be firm, then leave.
Say: “No way! Do you want my mom to ground me for life!” Make a joke, then leave.

Always be confident in your answer because people are more
likely to respect your decision.
Put a serious look on your face.
Look at them in the eye.

Talk in a clear, firm voice.

If you need help, go to a parent, teacher or other trusted adult.
